Rove will not be charged in Plame affair

In a story guaranteed to send Kossacks into a broiling rage, it has been announced that Karl Rove will not be charged in Plamegate.

Top White House aide Karl Rove has been told by prosecutors he won't be charged with any crimes in the investigation into the leak of a CIA officer's identity, his lawyer said Tuesday, lifting a heavy burden from one of President Bush's most trusted advisers.

Attorney Robert Luskin said that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald informed him of the decision on Monday, ending months of speculation about the fate of Rove, the architect of Bush's 2004 re-election now focused on stopping Democrats from capturing the House or Senate in this November's elections.

I'm glad to see that Rove was able to navigate the waters of the Grand Jury without earning himself indictments of perjury and obstruction of justice a la Libby and Clinton in recent years.

Now, we can only wonder when Joe Wilson will be indicted as he is alleged to have been telling everyone he met that his wife worked for the CIA.

Federal Gay Marriage Ban dead?

It's looking less and less likely that the federal gay marriage ban will pass the Senate.

In related news, the state of Alabama voted to ban gay marriage by a 4 to 1 ratio.

The measure failed to pass. It didn't even muster 50% of the vote.

More details of the Canadian Terror plots

By now I'm sure most of us have heard of the Canadian terror plots that the Mounties seem to have broken up.

In addition to planning to behead the Canadian PM, it has been revealed that the men took delivery of three tons of ammonium nitrate. Ammonium Nitrate is a fertilizer that can be used to produce soem serious explosives.

According to the AP report this is more fertilizer than that which was used to in the Oklahoma City bombing.

In a statement certain to piss off the ACLU and leftists everywhere, John Bolton pointed out that the arrests followed two years of police surveillance including wiretaps, observation and tracing of Internet usage.

"I hope the American public as a whole understands why these steps are being taken (in the United States), not to invade their privacy, not to find out things about legitimate activities, but to uncover these terrorist networks," he said.

Republican wins House race in Calif.

In an election widely viewed by many to be a foreshadowing of the midterm elections this fall Republican Brian Bilbray claimed victory over his opponent Democrat Francine Busby.

This special election was to determine who would take the place of Randall "Duke" Cunningham. Duke, was sentenced to 8 years behind bars for accepting bribes on an almost unheard of scale from various contractors.
