What the fuck? Exodus re-recorded Bonded by Blood, their best album. Bonded by Blood didn't need to be re-recorded. What was wrong with the original one? Nothing! On Let There Be Blood, they modernized everything and made into an overproduced pile of shit. The great Paul Baloff (R.I.P.) would roll in his grave if he heard this. NU vocalist Rob Dukes does a horrible job on the vocals. The magic of the first album is not present on Let There Be Blood. It's a soulless, overproduced version of Bonded by Blood with shitty vocals. They dedicated this re-recording to Paul. What an insult! Paul Baloff was the real Exodus. THIS is Exodunce...

As far as "bad moves" go, this is up there with those Hollywood douchebags remaking John Carpenter's "The Thing" for release next year. Why fuck with something that was perfect to begin with?????
I swear -- every day I check this blog -- I realize just how dead and bloated the stinking corpse of metal has become -- between all of the old bands that piss on their legacy and all of the screamo asshats, metal is over.
And then, there are all of the "br00tal" scene-whores who think Origin, Necrophagist, Devourment and Decapitated "invented" Death Metal. Thanks for killing metal's good name.

I can't stand these fucking remakes! Exodus' re-recording of Bonded by Blood was a disaster. What's next, Sepultura re-records Beneath The Remains? They don't even have any Cavelera members anymore! Both Caveleras already soiled their reputations long ago.
At least RetroThrash is dying and in a few years, this Metalcore/Deathcore shit will fade. I hope the Emo image fades away too. What will be the next terrible trend? I'm guessing these new pretentious Post-Metal bands will be the next big thing. I hope not. Nu-Metal did enough damage as it is. Metalcore, Deathcore, and Slam are worse.

Since I don't listen to much modern metal, I'm not sure what you mean by Post-Metal bands. I'm guessing that this would be stuff like Novembre and Opeth, who, again had stellar early to mid 90s releases like "Wish I could Dream it Again" and "Orchid" and then began putting out watered-down prog rock bullshit. Another example would be Anathema. Probably my favorite doom/death band in the early 90s, they sound like fucking Radiohead now. The funny thing is, Anathema made the switch to weak non-metal bullshit hoping to get non-metal fans, and it didn't happen. Nobody likes them anymore, and good riddance for whoring out that once proud band name. I remember when Bruce Dickinson did the same thing and at least he learned his lesson after releasing one solo album of grunge (Skunkworks) that BOMBED among metal and non-metal audiences.
No, I think the next "trend" in metal is probably going to be "joke" bands thanks to Metalocalypse and Dethklok. Pretty funny show, I guess, but Lawnmower Deth was making joke Death Metal when I was in high school and it was a thousand times better than Dethklok (despite the fact that Gene "God of Drums" Hoglan plays session for metal's version of the Monkees).
Post-Metal is crap like Pelican, Cult of Luna, Isis, and other boring and pertinacious garbage. My impression of it are a bunch of wimps who you wouldn't think would listen to Metal playing boring music that isn't Metal by any means yet slapping the tag "Post-Metal" on their worthless crap. Simply put, posers playing boring shit that sells to pseudo-intellectual "open minded" assholes who call proud metalheads "dumb." It's really nothing worth listening to. Post-Metal is crap and most of the people who listen to it are morons with their heads up their asses. These stupid hipsters and their "Post-Metal" can fuck off, give me a Deceased album any day!

I was just looking over my CD rack and realized that REAL intellectual metal -- namely Septic Flesh's "Mystic Places of Dawn" -- blows tripe like Pelican out of the water. Also, Septic Flesh could once play circles around so-called "technical/br00tal" bands like Origin, Necrophagist, Brodequin, etc. etc. that LOSERS like Anonymouse think invented death metal.

Im going to see Septic Flesh here in indy. Btw your opinion of post metal is dead on. I got a yakuza cd from a friend and i thought the shit was jazz metal not very good.

Not sure how Septic Flesh sounds now as I only have MPOD, Esoptron, and Ophidian Wheel. I honestly didn't know they were still around but they were a killer atmospheric DM band. Hope the show is good...
As for "Jazz Metal", the only stuff I'd consider listening to under this category would be Atheist, Cynic and the last Pestilence album -- all stuff over a decade and a half old.
Modern "metal" (Deathcore, Screamo, NSBM, Retro-Thrash, Post-Metal, Slam, etc. etc.) sucks like a fucking Hoover.
"Creative Bankruptcy" is what it should be called.
And thrash/death bands should avoid making anti-drug songs like the new exodunce do (something about how meth is bad for you: awww).
As terrible a singer as Baloff was at least he KNEW WHAT WAS UP, this new version looks like stone cold steve austin fans with friends on the force if you know what I mean.
