Rick Rubin to Produce Next Metallica Album!

Fellow Metal Pundits, the Bob Rock era Metallica is officially done! According to a story on Blabbermouth, Metallica have announced that their next album will be produced by the legendary producer who is known for his work with Slayer, Slipknot, and System of a Down. I'm actually excited about this! No more trash can snares, no more lack of solos, and hopefully no more crappy songs! I have high hopes for this next album. I sure hope they don't let us down again! The ideal would be to have Rubin influence them to play thrash. This is all wishful thinking, but I really wish that their next album will rival recent masterpieces by Exodus and Nevermore!

This is very good news. Metallica has been the greatest band in the world, let's hope they can get back on that horse.

I agree Os. I bought the Black album the day it came out, and haven't bought a Metallica album since. I hope Rubin can bring Metallica back to glory, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I don't think that even the great Rick Rubin can control their over-bloated egos.

Optimism, my friends, is the key to Metallica's renaissance. While the probability of their next album being good is marginal, it doesn't hurt to do some wishful thinking. We'll have to wait and see what it sounds like when it comes out.

Dude, it's gonna suck!

Metallica has turned out nothing but absolute garbage since the black album. The best producer in the world can't make these bozos gain talent.

While it will be interesting to see how it turns out, I don't think it will save them. Check out the thread I posted on metalreview about this:
